Samenvatting

This paper considers the vital contribution that a new road, the Black Country Route, is making to the regeneration of a region. Not only does it provide essential access to open up substantial areas of derelict land for redevelopment as well as supporting and sustaining existing businesses, the standards of design and construction have led to a sense of pride that rarely accompanies new road construction. In particular, the underlying strategy recognises directly that regeneration is more than a matter of promoting economic growth through improving access and refurbishing industry, it is also necessary to raise confidence and provide hope to people. (A) The German title of this article is: Rolle der Neue Strasse in Wirtschaftliche und Umweltliche Reconstruction in Black Country : Beispiel.
