This paper presents an approach for the introduction of EDI to support the external logistics of organizations. This approach has been developed by Stichting UTC (Uniform Transport Code) within the EDI-ACT (EDI for Arrangement and Control of Transport chains) and has resulted in a model. This paper discusses a conceptual model to specify the behaviour of two parties with respect to message exchange necessary for the processing of the goods.
