SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research recommends to the Dutch Road Safety Organisation (VVN) which educational objectives should be included in a project on alcohol and traffic aimed at 15-16 year-olds. The choice of these objectives is based on four sources of information: (1) a market analysis amongst teachers and mediating organisations; (2) data from the Health Behaviour in School Children (HBSC) questionnaire amongst students; (3) a literature study; and (4) results of group discussions with students. The objectives are intended to influence students' behaviour, and the role of both schools and parents, concerning the use of alcohol in traffic. Several suggestions are made for the design of the project. Video material is advocated. The involvement of both parents and educators in the project is also suggested, so that children can interview them. Frequent scepticism about the value of group discussions is contested.
