Through traffic can be discouraged to use a road by forcing it- by physical means- into a side street and making it turn there. Cycle traffic is not affected as is agricultural traffic with enough ground clearance. This solution was found for an unpaved raod which was asphalted for the benefits of cyclists but at the same time became no more attractive for through motor car traffic.
