The CO2 gradient from automobile traffic has changed the adult population distribution of the American dog tick. The effect of the CO2 gradient is to drain the tick population within 30 m to the road edge. This immigration maintains adult activity at the roadside habitat for several weeks longer than in the adjacent open field habitats.
