Effect of certain geometric design characteristics of highways on accident rates for two-lane, two-way roads in Connecticut.

Roadway elements which are statistically correlated with accident occurrence are identified. The variables considered are: average daily traffic, length of highway section, pavement with, shoulder width, curvature, and restricted sight distance. The results of the study are analysed and discussed.
