Samenvatting

The "Energy Crisis" is the latest of many socio-economic and political factors which have adversely impacted the funds available for highway operation, both construction and maintenance. As an immediate reaction to the reduced availability of highway funds, it has been proposed by some design engineers that geometric standards be reduced. It is stated that the "Energy Crisis" should not be permitted to affect existing geometric design standards at least until ongoing or planned research is completed
