Samenvatting

This study deals with the effect of restricted sight distance on drivers speed choice. No effect of sight distance with respect to the roadway could be established if subjects were provided with sufficient preview distance with respect to lead vehicles. It is concluded that uncertainty about the ability to respond adequately to lead vehicles, rather than uncertainty about roadway preview, dominates speed choice at these sight distances.
