Samenvatting

A partial cordon survey was made of the West End of London during a one day's withdrawal of taxi's, in order to find out what effect their absence had on the flows and speeds of other forms of the road transport and how much spare traffic capacity would be available. It was that the total number of vehicles crossing the cordon decreased by between 20 and 30 per cent during the taxi strike, despite an crease in private cars ranging from 10 to 25 per cent.
