The effect of a "one for the road" drink of hard liquor, beer or wine on peak breath alcohol concentration in a social drinking environment with food consumption.

It is suggested that breath testing results may not give an accurate picture as the time of drinking is not taken into account. This paper describes a study of the increase in breath alcohol and the time it takes to reach a peak after finishing the `one for the road' drink. A group of subjects consumed hard liquor, beer or wine in a simulated social environment and were subjected to breath tests at intervals. In the second of 2 studies a `one for the road' drink was added. The results are presented graphically. The author makes distinctions between the effects of hard liquor, beer and wine and discusses the effect of the final drink.
