Samenvatting

The most common methods of taking vehicle speed measurements involve the selection of a fixed point on a particular roadway at which vehicular speeds may be measured. Much of the speed data collected in the past decades has been gathered with the use of pneumatic, road-tube timing devices. Questions arise as to the value of speed data taken with the use of pneumatic tubes which are stretched across the roadway and which, because of their presence, may influence the real speeds of the vehicles passing over them. Conclusions reached in answer these questions are presented.
