Tests conducted in a driving simulator, where the subject was seated in the driver's seat watching a rear-projection screen on which a film closely depicting a driver's view was shown, are described. Each subject performed under 3 different noise levels, three different road speeds and two-different side shift speeds of the projector. The three noise levels selected for this study were similar to noise levels usually experienced in day to day city driving. Nearly 60% of the subjects showed speed-noise interaction to be significant
