Samenvatting

Better performance, in terms of traffic carried, is obtained from slabs made with concretes of higher strength than the normal concrete mix supplied to meet current specifications. It has been shown that the life of a concrete road slab is approximately proportional to the flexural strength to the power 3.2. Using this result a method has been developed for assessing the economics of using different strength concretes with suitable adjusted slab thicknesses.
