This paper reports upon observation and in-depth structured face to face interviews with potential users of the Nottinghamshire County Council open Internet travel information system. The research tested the user needs, and potential behavioural impacts of the static information currently provided by the system, and real time information displays which are being trialed for inclusion. Detailed findings are presented which demonstrate that packages of static and real time information provided via the Internet and aimed at influencing a range of journey situations, not only the commute trip, will fill an important part of the transport information market.
