Samenvatting

An analysis of near-term transportation alternatives for the Los Angeles region that uses the policy-oriented urban transportation model developed, is presented. The predicted effect on regional vehicle miles of travel of various levels of bus-system improvements, car-pooling incentives, and economic disincentives is given. It is indicated that alternatives are available that could reduce vehicle miles of travel by 20% or more while minimizing adverse impacts on personal mobility.
