Samenvatting

Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) are temporary vehicle activated signs which detect and display real-time vehicle speeds. SIDs are a relatively cheap method of speed management which aim to change drivers’ speed behaviour in different driving environments. They are increasingly being installed at sites across London with the aim of reducing vehicle speeds, but there has been little research in Great Britain or in urban contexts to measure their effectiveness. This report presents the results of a study of their effectiveness in reducing vehicle speeds in London that was carried out in 2007 by TRL on behalf of Transport for London. (Author/publisher)
