Samenvatting

Results are presented of studies in which an attempt was made to relate drinking behaviour and emotional factors of hostility to accident rates and violations. Young men were classified into 5 categories of drinking behaviour. Hostility was measured by an index of 8 items on anger and rebellion, while educational alienation was measured by a 3-item index. Results seem to show that among young men who did not feel aggressive and did not reject the school system the level of drinking made very little difference to highway behaviour.
