Samenvatting

Right-of-way conflicts amongst bicycles and cars were studied under daylight and artificial lighting at 8 crossings in the city of Leiden. To characterize these conflicts in terms of safety a conflict-observation technique was used. In daylight an increase in the proportion of serious conflicts was found. Bicycle-lights could be demonstrated to have no significant effect in right-of way conflicts.
