Samenvatting

In a car following experiment data were gathered about lead and following car velocities, headway variance, velocity variance and driver opinion. Different car-driver systems were tested on response and platoon stability. In the most sophisticated driver aid configuration, which included compensation to reduce speed changes and to adjust for tracking distances, an improvement in driver's performance and a reduction on his work load was observed. A platoon of such aided vehicles would be asymptotically stable.
