Some of the problems that face the development of traffic education for all those future road users which now are somewhere between infancy and driving age are discussed. On the short term the emphasis should be on the development of programs that teach children the behaviour required for their safe traffic participation on the longer term, traffic education should attempt to educate the younger road users to become the perceptive and responsible road users of the future.
