Samenvatting
An investigation was made of the effect of road side markings on keeping away from these lines by vehicles. Measurement was made of distances kept away from central and side lines on straight roads and in curves, both by day and night. It was found that with an edge marking the driver keeps more to the right than with either a central line or both. This came clear especially in left curves. It is concluded that road side marking reduces the risk for frontal collisions, especially in dark.
