Two different types of driver-instruction courses were investigated. One concentrated on vehicle-handling completed by theoretical instruction in driving. The other offered theory and exercises on top of that in order to have a positive influence on the mentality of the driver. 132 persons were interviewed following a combined "before/after"and "control-group" (4 groups) design (Solomon-design). Both types of courses had good results, but the latter was even more positive. Use of such a program is therefore recommended, but with the additional remark that it should be organized as a seminar and last at least 2 days.
