By means of a literature survey, simulations with the NEI-FACTS model and time series analysis, a study was executed on the price and income elasticity of the demand for fuel. The price elasticity of the demand for fuel is composed of the fuel price elasticities of the distance travelled, of the fuel consumption efficiency and of the number of vehicles. The income elasticity of the demand for fuel can be constructed in a similar way.
