Samenvatting

The purpose of the present study was to explore the use of electrical resistance measurements in field concrete as a means of monitoring changes in the moisture content of the concrete over time. Presently the only practical means of monitoring the moisture state of field concrete is to measure relative humidity (RH) over time. The RH defines the thermodynamic state of the pore water, but not the amount, which probably is more important than RH for several durability properties. Hence the authors' interest in resistance measurements. The study is presented in two parts: a literature review and the results of an experimental program carried out in the laboratory.
