Samenvatting

An architecture and a proof of concept for Electronic Vehicle Identification have been developed. The system has been successfully tested in a pilot with 23 participants over a period of three months and a total distance of 75.000 km travelled. The architecture consists of a functional definition, a security framework and a design for the integration in vehicles. Thearchitecture is such that integration with ITS systems based on CALM/CVIS/GST will be possible. The physical design and security framework make both physical tampering and electronic fraud extremely difficult. This ensures that the system can also be used for vehicle fraud detection and application that involve financial transactions, like road charging or electronictoll collection.
