The survey was based upon personal interview with 505 drivers. Colour photographs of traffic signs placed in an appropriate position along the road were presented to the drivers. The results showed a substantial increase in the level of sign knowledge for Norwegian drivers compared to earlier surveys. The report discusses whether the surprisingly low level of sign knowledge revealed in earlier studies may be an invalid measure.
