Samenvatting

This paper describes the main factors contributing to the apparent lack of operationalization of the `mobility enhancement' concept in many developing cities. The paper shows that adequate orientation of engineering education can contribute significantly to the improvement of the situation. The engineering education goals are specified and details of a new subject designed to internalize the `mobility enhancement' concept in engineering education are presented. (A) The French title of the paper is: "L'ingénierie et l'augmentation de la mobilité dans les pays en voie de développement".
