The report deals with the investigations into noise nuisance carried out in other countries to date and covers the conclusions which have some bearing on the assessment system. It discusses the choice of measures of noise level used. Different dose-effect (i.e. noise level and nuisance) curves are the result and possible causes of the differences are indicated. Converted to equivalent levels, the maximum permissible levels arrived at by foreign investigators range from 50 to 65 dB.
