Samenvatting
Proposed changes to the department's manual of environmental appraisal following the response to the SACTRA urban road appraisal report are outlined. The paper will discuss the changes that may be needed in the Department of Transport's manual of environmental appraisal following the publication of the SACTRA report on urban road appraisal. This report confirmed the validity for urban trunk road schemes of much of the methodology in use at present but proposed that more detailed assessments should be included of effects such as community severance and night- time noise nuisance.
