Environmental sensitivity of arterial roads.

Some recent work in the development of the concept of environmental sensitivity measures and their application to road classification and arterial road management and monitoring tasks in NSW, Western Australia and Victoria is described. A simple methodology is outlined which combines ease of application with a quantitative basis; the procedure has been recently applied in Leichhardt, NSW and the concept is illustrated by a description of this application.
