Samenvatting
After a general description of ergonomics the chapter concentrates on ergonomics with respect to cars and lorries. Ergonomic aspects of the three levels of driving and mastering of traffic are discussed, the strategic, the manoeuvring and the managing level. Three types of methods by which the ergonomic aspects of vehicles can be assessed are identified. It is expected that the implementation of micro- electronics in vehicles will change the drivers task as well as the characteristics and performance of cars.
