A problem of traffic analysis is to determine the constituted streams in a traffic network. As a rule, expensive data collection is necessary to do this. The procedure presented here, however, requires as input only the flows past points on selected road sections. Then the routes which can use these road sections are ascertained. As the sum of the route flows equals the combined flow on the road section, a system and an optimization procedure of the route can then be specified.
