Samenvatting

The objectives of this study were to establish baseline performance for a healthy population in a PC-based driving simulator developed for research, evaluation and training, and to examine the correlation between performance in the simulator and on standardized tests of visual attention. Participants included 64 healthy subjects who volunteered to participate in the study, aged 18 to 67 years. The results indicate an effect of age for time to complete the scenario and significant low correlations between performance within the driving simulator and the visual attention tests. The results point to the potential for using the simulator for rehabilitation. Further studies are needed to explore this potential with various clinical populations. (Author/publisher).
