Samenvatting

This paper develops and applies a methodology to extrapolate emission levels from transportation systems where there are no direct measurements. Concentration of the study is on trucks on the Manitoban Trans- Canada highway in the Kyoto benchmark year. The particular scope has been limited to heavy weight, diesel trucks operating on the Manitoba portion of the Trans-Canada highway. Analysis considers two major trend variations related to truck characteristics. These include technological changes with time, as well as how fleet composition and gross vehicle weight vary and thus affect fuel consumption. This paper was nominated for the TAC 2001 Environmental Achievement Award. For the covering abstract of this conference see ITRD number E211271.
