Samenvatting

The report describes a procedure for estimating the annual demand for aggregates for 11 end-uses in each of a set of geographical sub-divisions of Great Britain (countries, planning regions, counties, etc.). The procedure is based on published statistics and was devised to provide data for use in a model of aggregates distribution. Although primarily intended for estimating demand in a past year, the procedure, when extended, may be useful for forecasting future demand. The procedure has been used with data for 1973/1974 to provide estimates by end-use for England, Wales and Scotland which are in reasonable agreement with other published figures and have an estimated error of between 10 per cent and 18 per cent.
