Samenvatting

The London Parking Supply Study serves a number of important purposes. It provides for the first time estimates of parking supply across the capital, informing the GLA and borough planners about the nature and quantity of parking provision in particular areas of London. It will allow future parking provision to be planned by the boroughs and by Transport for London. With the possibility of charging for car use in London under consideration by the Mayor/GLA, the estimates from this study can be used in assessing the potential revenue from levies on particular types of parking. The estimates can be used as input to transport models to indicate potential costs of, and constraints on, car-ownership and car-access to particular destinations. This article describes the methodology behind the study, and gives some of the main results.
