In order to focus on the major questions concerning the development of the European Union, Eurostat provides a practical statistical guide Europe in figures – Eurostat yearbook 2005 containing essential, accurate and recent information on the current situation in Europe. This yearbook, which presents Europe in figures, offers an outline of the data provided by the statistical office of the European Communities. What the Europe in figures - Eurostat yearbook 2005 contains: Statistics showing changes in society, the growth of the economy, the environmental and ecological picture, business activity and the development of individual sectors; Comparable data on the 25 Member States, the euro-zone, the candidate countries, major trade partners and a number of economic or geographic associations or areas. How to use this statistical guide: The data in figures, displayed as tables and graphs and accompanied by explanatory introductions, are arranged in a logical and easy-to-use manner; The glossary explains the statistical concepts and ideas which are used; Abbreviations and acronyms are explained in an insert in the yearbook.
