Research has been done to the influence of a new fog warning system on the driving behaviour during fog and on the accident pattern, and in particular on the accidents during fog. It is shown that the average speed has decreased with 8 to 10 kmh. The number of accidents has decreased also on the test track. Knowledge has not only been obtained on driving behaviour during fog, but also on the origination and behaviour of fog in the direct environment of the road. This knowledge can also been used in future projects on other parts of the main road network, which are susceptible for fog. It is recommended to apply fog warning and fog detection systems, such as studied here, on other road sections in combination with a traffic signalling system. Without the traffic signalling system the installation of fog warning and fog detection system cost a relative high investment.
