Samenvatting
A few years ago an automatic traffic signaling system was introduced on road sections of some highways in the Netherlands. Before making decisions whether or nor to provide other freeways with an identical system an evaluation was made on base of the results of a (two year) before- and after study. Apart from the aspect of road safety which got particular attention other aspects in this study were considered too such as: system availability, system use, traffic behaviour on signaled road sections, the reactions of the road users and those of the road- as well of the police authorities.
