Samenvatting
Previous work on pedestrian safety has indicated that elements other than physical facilities are clearly important to the prevention of pedestrian accidents. Environmental and behavioral characteristics associated with each crossing event are hypothesized as being intervening variables which are capable of affecting the use of pedestrian safety facilities. In an effort to identify which of these many contributing factors are of importance, a quasi- experimental study of pedestrian- motorist behavior and interaction was undertaken.
