One of the effective parameters in highway safety is the frictional properties of pavement surfaces. The main reason for collecting frictional datais to prevent or reduce wet surface skid accidents. This paper presents the effect of using two aggregates, steel slag (Basic Oxygen Furnace) and local limestone, with different weight percentages in asphalt samples. Frictional properties of the samples were tested using British Pendulum Tester(BPT). For evaluating polish resistance of mentioned aggregates, also Polished Stone Value (PSV) samples were fabricated using epoxy resin and polished in Accelerated Polishing Machine (APM). The Laboratory test results, showed the positive effect of applying steel slag aggregate. In addition, limestone aggregate drop after polishing was high, meanwhile steel slag showed high resistance under polishing process.
