Samenvatting

In the currently installed priority signal control system for ambulances in Japan, there exists the problem of ambulances being unable to pass through the intersection during an extended green period because other vehicles blocking the path of the ambulance. This study proposes an advanced priority signal control system that removes other vehicles and enables smoother running of ambulances by providing more green lights to all vehicles before the ambulance arrives at the intersection. Travel time reduction was verified by using micro traffic simulations. In the simulation results, thetravel time of the ambulance was reduced by 5 seconds for each intersection.
