Samenvatting

All occupants in a car, children and adults, can and should be restrained. In Australia where parents accept mandatory restraint for children, child restraint legislation has lagged behind that for adults and there in no uniformity of laws for children under 8 years of age. It is recognized than in this study the method of allocation of seats prevented a natural selection by parents. Important factors for parents when choosing a child car seat are discussed.
