Research on a driver assistance system (DAS) including lane keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control is described. DAS is capable of reducing the driver's workload. Within this system, the designer is able to set the amount of assistance required which may affect the driver's level of control of the vehicle. Study on the interface between the driver and DAS are discussed and any difficulties resolved before such a system could be used widely. A quantitative analysis of how much changes in the amount of assistance in lane keeping affect the driver was conducted
