Samenvatting

Shoulder kinematics of the Hybrid III and THOR NT, with the first version of a new shoulder design (SD-1), were evaluated in 45degree far-side, full frontal and 30degree near-side collisions. In total eleven dummy tests were conducted in the three collision angles, while film and instrument data were generated and compared with those of PMHS data from an earlier study. For the 45degree far side impact, the THOR SD-1NT dummy retained the shoulder belt on the shoulder during on-loading, as did the PMHSs, whereas the THOR NT did not. In the 30degree nearside impact, the superior motion of the belted THOR SD-1NT shoulder resembled that of the PMHSs. For the covering abstract see ITRD E144229.
