Samenvatting
This paper assesses the current state of the art in evaluating the interrelationships of national energy and transportation programs. The author discusses briefly the limitations of using single modal indicators of transportation performance and energy conservation, and suggests five factors which influence our ability to assess future energy impacts of alternative transportation policies on a national sector basis. The author then recommends development of a package of indicators for use in such assessments through an international research program specifically designed for that purpose. (A)
