Samenvatting

This paper presents the findings of a pilot study to determine whether a low-cost, PC-based driving simulator could provide information to assess the safe ability to drive of individuals with cognitive impairments. Subjects and controls drove two simulated courses, the second featuring more complex driving challenges. Results from the simulator study were compared to those of a previous on-road evaluation and it was considered whether the simulator could also contribute to the individual's own understanding of driving strengths and weaknesses. The results will lead to an enhancement of simulator capabilities and a comprehensive clinical trial.
