Samenvatting

A laboratory method is described for continuously varying the luminance contrast between legend and background materials of different colours used in fully reflectorised signs. Results indicate a necessity to place controls on the relative luminance's of legend and background to achieve a minimum loss inlegibility. Difficulties encountered due to a number of phenomena in colour vision are also discussed.
