Samenvatting

The approach ends of guardrails and median barriers have offered less protection to motorists than the length-of-need section of the installation. This abridgment reports on the encouraging results of end-on full-scale vehicle impact tests into new guardrail terminal design. The new terminal provides the necessary end anchorage strength yet appears to offer greatly safety advantages. (See also A 9714 for full version of the paper).
