Samenvatting
The Automated Highway System was experimented on the Joshin-etsu Highway in the fall of 1996. This experiment was conducted to pinpoint possible problems in actual on-road application, by using the road before it was put into use, based on the result of a successfully conducted experiment on the test course in the Public Works Research Institute in 1995. This paper mainly reports the outline of the road and vehicle communication system experiment and the result of system evaluation. It also reports the difference from the previous experimental system and compares the evaluation results.
